We may say mental health is the healthy exercise of our mental abilities and capabilities. Normal people may find it hard to describe or define what it is. A person is mentally healthy if he or she is able to maintain a healthy interpersonal relationship. Good mental health may prove to be a person who is able to handle the diversity and cope well with the changes happening. Normally, we don’t know how to really see what mental health can be. We start to notice when people act strangely and not conforming to norms. For many of us, mental health is something we don’t give a lot of thought.

Good mental health is something we ignore even if the victim is ourselves. We don’t really care even if we start noticing changes like mood swings and low tolerance happening. We may feel gloomy for an extended period of time, but we don’t find it something alarming. We may go at life without realizing something is wrong with our mental health or other person’s. It is often misunderstood. A few people realize this but a few people suffer from a form of depression. Depression is one of the most common forms of mental disorders. There are other disorders that happen out there. Most of them go undetected until they become serious and start impacting the quality of life. It is possible that one may lead to bigger costs when there is a failure of recognition about the situation. Most people refuse to recognize the problem due to the social stigma or the feeling of being ashamed that there is something wrong with someone’s mind.

A lot of people think mental health is separate from physical health. In reality, mental health can impact physical health in many cases. Some physical illness may contribute to the surfacing of mental disorders. We have heard much about postpartum depression in women who just gave birth. During pregnancy, due to changes in the hormone they also can have some mental challenges. Hormonal changes can cause problems and lead to challenges in mental health. Without proper sleep people can become anxious. There would be too much impact to the body when stress remains that can impact the body.

It is important to be worried when mental health goes down. Mental health can have an impact in diet and rest. In turn, the mental disorder has become the source of the breakdown in the physical health. Overthinking can also exhaust the people causing too much fatigue and stress.

Being sensitive can lead people to understand what mental health is all about. Some of the problems go unreported and their cases could have been treated only if they went to the right people to get help. Being unable to get the right treatment may lead to bigger problems.
